One of my favorite Chicago eateries, this location was in Indiana. Found it after topping off the tank and was excited to see it expanded to Indiana. First off, you CANNOT find a char-grilled burger anywhere nowadays, but Portillo's offers the best char-grilled burgers, hands down, and you can see it go on the grill! My friend had the Big Beef Italian Beef, another Chicago favorite, and said it was delicious. Hopefully every location is as good as this one. Highly Recommended!!!
What a fun place for a quick lunch! I stopped in with about 15 folks from my tour bus for lunch. There was a line to order, but it went quickly enough. I ordered the chili dog and fries. When I got my order, the fries were piping hot and crispy. The dog was perfect! I couldn't be happier. When I spoke to some of the other folks who joined me, they were equally impressed. This was a great stop on the way home to Cincinnati from Chicago.
Not impressed with the service, food, or prices. The roast beef was pretty good but it's not big. I ordered sweet and hot peppers for $1.20 extra. I got a total of 6 or 7 pepper pieces. All hot I think. With small fries and a drink, it was well over $10. Not worth it in my humble opinion. My family ordered a cheese burger, a Cesar salad, and large drink. Over $30 later and I'm disappointed.
Food was great as always, I live in Cincinnati and travel back home here. Always eat at portillos. The combo last couple of times barley has beef on it. For the cost it should be equal meat to the sausage. I never want to stop eating here or the four that surround Indianapolis because it is delicious...but there needs to be addressed on how to prepare properly enough meat to feel like i did not get ripped off on the value of sandwich. Thanks for your attention to it!
Of course, Portillo's is short on staff. We called in an order for pickup. It was 5:35p, for pickup at 6:15p. We got to Portillo's at 6:18, called in, let them know we were there for curb side delivery. After waiting until 6:30, my friend went inside. THEY LOST OUR ORDER, when it was remade, not everything was there either. We didn't get everything until 7:00p. Until things get better, forget going there. On the Plus Side, our food was very good
